TRIXIE THE TRICKSTER TIGER KITTY

A FEW DAYS GO BY

So the last few days I discovered that I have another “houdini cat”.
Every morning she was waiting for me to let her into the catio for breakfast.
I looked and searched to try to find her escape route, and I thought I found a possibility, patched it up, and she got out anyway.
She’s just a little thing, less than 8 pounds I’m sure. Also totally feral, even though she’s been in the catio since she was born 3 years ago. She absolutely will not trust me. Yet. I never give up.
Anyway, today I finally got lucky and saw how she was getting out.
I thought for sure that the branches of one of the trees was too flimsy and thin for any full-grown cat to climb on and out to the top of the catio for a path to freedom.
Huh. Boy was I wrong.
There were enough smaller branches from the main one for her to balance onto while the main, and much longer, branch dipped down under her weight to touch the top of the catio. A hop, skip, and a jump and she was outside.

So I went and got some long handled loppers and cut off a few of the longer branches that she could try to use again. That’s work! I might have to cut the whole tree down which I really don’t want to do. There is one more (at least) thicker branch that the lopper could cut, but I’m just not strong enough. So, I’ll have to get a handsaw to do that one. With all those branches cut off, I have to wonder if maybe I should just remove the whole tree anyway.
It’s almost my bedtime, so it’s time to go outside and bring the dog in. Maybe, if she’s at the door, she’ll come back inside tonight. If not, I’ll have to pray that she survives another night outside and be waiting for breakfast in the morning.

Lopped off a bunch of branches.
Didn’t want to destroy the whole tree
